Selection Process
The Australasian Cake Oscar Awards are very serious awards. We recognise that becoming a finalists or the ultimate winner of this category can make a huge difference to a business. That's why every product put forward for this award is physically, rigorously tested by a team of highly experienced industry judges.
In the interest of transparency we've outline the process adopted.
In the interest of transparency we've outline the process adopted.
- The public, customers, industry peers and industry judges are invited to nominate a product they feel worthy
- The owners of all nominated products are contacted and invited to send products for industry testing. Products not available for testing are eliminated from the process
- A team of highly experienced industry professionals are invited to test each product based on the following criteria. Each criteria is scaled from 1-5.
- All judges are independent with no affiliation with any product or associated company
- Every nominated product is announced. The public, customers and industry peers are invited to vote for the four finalists.
- Public votes are tallied. The Judging Panel's scores are counted. Both public and judges votes are taken into account when selecting the finalists and winners. However to ensure the credibility of the award, and to ensure a product doesn't win or become a finalist purely due to their social media following, the judges scores are more heavily weighted than the public vote.
